For domestic flights within Japan, fares are competitive with shinkansen high-speed trains (more on train travel in the Japan guide). On longer routes over 1 hour, it is generally cheaper and faster to fly by plane.
Fare classes
All Nippon Airways offers flights in economy, premium economy and business class.
First class is also available on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, called THE Suite.
The different classes are further divided into different fare groups, which differ in their ability to change or refund tickets. However, all fares include checked baggage.
