Tokyo Narita Airport is one of the 50 largest airports in the world and serves mainly international traffic in the Tokyo metropolitan area. It is located 80 km east of central Tokyo.

Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and the low-cost airlines Jetstar Japan and Peach Aviation are based here.

Narita Airport currently serves as a secondary airport and handles significantly fewer passengers than Haneda HND Airport, which is closer to the centre.

Haneda served mainly as a domestic and regional hub until 2014, but after the completion of the new terminal, many long-haul intercontinental flights were also moved from Narita to Haneda.
