Tokyo Haneda International Airport is located 14 kilometres south of Tokyo Station, Tokyo's main city centre. Haneda is one of the 20 largest airports in the world and handles over 70 million passengers a year, mostly on domestic routes.
Japan's two largest airlines, Japan Air Lines and All Nippon Airways, are based here.
Until 2014, Haneda had restrictions on international flights that could only arrive at this airport during the night period due to limited handling capacity.
However, after the completion of the new terminal, the number of international flights increased dramatically and many airlines moved flights from Narita NRT Airport, 80 km from Tokyo, to Haneda.
