The airport in the South Chinese city of Shenzhen is one of the 20 largest in the world. It is located at the mouth of the Pearl River, 34 kilometres from the city centre and 55 kilometres from Hong Kong.
Shenzhen Airlines is headquartered here and China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines also have major bases here.
Direct flights go to more than 150 destinations. The vast majority of traffic is to Chinese destinations, but Shenzhen also has numerous international routes to Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan and the Philippines.
Direct intercontinental flights go to Frankfurt, London, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Auckland, Cairo, Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Sydney and Amsterdam, to name a few.
