The larger of Shanghai's two airports is located on the coast about 45 km east of the city centre.
Pudong primarily serves international and long-haul routes with a wide network of destinations around the world. The largest airline at the airport is China Eastern Airlines. Spring Airlines and Juneyao Air also have a large number of mainly domestic and regional routes.
However, many major airlines fly into Shanghai-Pudong Airport from all over Asia, Europe, Australia, North America and even Africa.
The smaller Hongqiao SHA airport, on the other hand, mainly serves domestic and regional international routes. All long-haul flights bound for Shanghai fly into Pudong Airport.
