One of the world's busiest airports is located on the artificial island of Chek Lap Kok, about 30 km west of the centre of Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific and the low-cost HK Express are headquartered at the airport. Regular flights to Hong Kong are mainly to East Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.
In total, more than 100 airlines fly to Hong Kong from nearly 200 destinations.
As well as being a major hub for passengers, Hong Kong is also the busiest cargo airport in the world.
