Phu Quoc Island is located in southern Vietnam. Geographically, it is closer to Cambodia than Vietnam and although there is a boat connection, most tourists travel to the island by air.

Where do direct flights to Phu Quoc come from? How to get from mainland Vietnam to Phu Quoc? And where to buy the cheapest tickets?

By air

The island has its own international airport in the south , Phu Quoc PQC, which is served by a number of foreign and domestic flights.

In addition to many Southeast Asian routes, the island also receives direct flights from Prague, Bratislava, Scandinavia and several Asian capitals.

By ferry

If you are in southern Vietnam, a trip to the island by boat may be a good option. Ferries and fast boats to the islands leave from two ports in mainland Vietnam - Ha Tien and Rach Gia.

The vast majority of services terminate on Phu Quoc Island at Bai Vong port.

For trips to Phu Quoc, Ha Tien port is more popular as ferries leave more frequently and the journey is an hour shorter. On the other hand, Rach Gia is a bigger city, offers better infrastructure and you can also fly directly there.

Where to buy tickets?

Most companies have websites where you can buy tickets in advance. You can also buy directly at the port on the day of departure, but expect that not all ferries will be free, especially during the tourist season.
