The city of Sa Pa is undoubtedly the main tourism centre in northern Vietnam. Sa Pa used to be a small village full of mountain ethnics, now it is a modern city with hotels, restaurants and also tourist traps. Nevertheless, Sa Pa is a great starting point for exploring the natural and cultural beauty of northern Vietnam.
Just a few kilometres outside the city, rice paddies, ethnic minority villages and the highest mountain in all of Vietnam await you. The town itself is full of people from ethnic minorities from the surrounding mountains, such as the Hmong or Dao, who come here to offer guiding services or handicrafts.
