If you open a travel agent's catalogue with offers to Mallorca, in 90% of cases you will come across the iconic photo of the northernmost point of the island, Cap de Formentor. The most beautiful view of it is from the viewpoint "Mirador Es Colomer".
The viewpoint is located on a high cliff above the sea and offers spectacular views of the entire rocky northern coast of Mallorca. It is secured by a fence and is often crowded with tourists in the summer season, but it is still well worth a visit.

How to get there?
The viewpoint of Es Colomer can only be easily reached by car. It is about 5 km from the town of Port de Pollenca. A small car park is located on the road leading to Cap de Formentor, and from there a hiking trail about 300 metres long leads to the viewpoint. Parking is free and especially at sunset times very crowded.
Be very cautious when driving, as the car park often fills up and cars park along the roadside in often quite dangerous places.
There is also a bus stop at the Es Colomer viewpoint for bus number 334, which runs 1-2 times from Alcúdia, Port de Pollenca and Cala Figuera.
Accommodation
Most accommodation is in the nearby town of Port de Pollença, where hotels, apartments and studios are concentrated. Expect high prices, however - the cheapest apartments start at 110 eur per night for two during high season. You won't find any accommodation directly on the beach or within walking distance.
