Above the village of Igualero, on the southern slopes of the Alto de Garajonay, you will visit one of the most popular viewpoints on the island of Gomera.
From here, you can enjoy some of the best views of the iconic Fortaleza rock formation, which resembles a small table mountain.

The viewpoint is large and newly renovated and is located around the San Francisco Chapel.
It is best to go here early in the morning, when Mount Fortaleza is beautifully lit by the rising sun, or in the early evening, as some of the most beautiful sunsets in all of Gomera can be seen from here.
How to get there
The Igualero lookout is located near the road connecting the mountains with the village of Chipude.
By car, you can practically drive right up to the viewpoint.
The nearest bus stop is in the village of Igualero, about 600 metres from the viewpoint, and the following lines pass through:
- Line 1: Valle Gran Rey - Arure - El Cercado - Chipude - Igualero - Pajarito - Mirador de los Roques - Degollada de Perasa - San Sebastian
- 5 times a day from Monday to Saturday; 2 times a day on Sundays and holidays
