Where to stay on La Gomera

La Gomera is a small but very rugged island, so it's a good idea to give some thought to your choice of accommodation.

Most of the accommodation here is made up of small private apartments and there are very few regular hotels.

  • Complete facilities (restaurants, many shops, petrol station)
  • The best beaches on the island
  • Accessibility by ferry and 3 bus lines

Disadvantages

  • Far to all parts of the island, not very convenient for daily excursions and exploring all of Gomera
  • More traffic and concentration of tourists

Chipude, El Cercado, Las Hayas

A trio of villages in the central part of the island is the best accommodation option if you want to explore all of Gomera and head in a different direction every day.

There are also three bus lines that pass through the area.

  • Central location
  • Close walking distance to the mountains
  • Quiet surroundings, yet basic amenities (several restaurants as well as small supermarkets and gas stations)
  • Beautiful surrounding countryside and sunset views

Disadvantages

  • Fewer entertainment options, there is a quiet village life
  • Less choice of accommodation (but there is a classic hotel in Chipude, Hotel Sonia Chipude**)

Our tips and where we stayed

It was clear from the start of planning our trip that we wanted to stay on the west coast, which we found the most beautiful and peaceful.

We chose the cozy Vivienda vacacional La Era apartment with a fully equipped apartment. The wonderful accommodation in a very quiet part of Alojera has nice balconies, a fully equipped kitchen and is very spacious even for a family of 4.

The very detailed communication from the owner was pleasant, with a great description of how to get to the accommodation and how to pick up the keys without having to wait for the owner.

We attach our own photos of the apartment.

La Gomera hotel prices

Accommodation on the island is not among the cheapest. On the contrary, it is one of the most expensive locations in the Canary Islands.

Prices between June and September are normally between 100 eur and 200 eur per night in a double room. However, in La Gomera you can find many accommodations for only slightly higher prices, where you can have a whole villa for 6 or more people.

Prices in winter are between 80 eur and 150 eur per night.
