Stop for a picnic

The site of a former volcanic crater has long been overgrown with trees and grass, but the unique conditions have created a beautiful flat meadow where playgrounds, barbecue areas and benches with tables have been built, perfect for picnics.

There is also a fairly large restaurant in the park.

Laguna Grande is therefore a popular place not only with tourists, but also with the locals of Gomera.

Laurel Forest Trail

The Laguna Grande area is the starting point of many day hiking trails, but you can also walk along a short 1.5 km trail.

This will take you into the depths of the magical laurel forest that covers the entire area of the upper reaches of Garajonay National Park.

The trail starts between the restaurants and toilets and heads off to the left. All types of travellers can manage this easy route.

How to get there

Laguna Grande can only be reached comfortably by car or on foot.

Free parking is available right by the park and picnic areas. From the main road, turn onto the short asphalt road, entry is allowed without any problems.

The nearest bus stops are in the village of Cercado (3 km) or at the Pajarito roundabout (6 km)
