Few cities can boast touristy telecommunications towers. Barcelona certainly does. The Torre de comunicaciones is one of the masterpieces of the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and is one of Barcelona's most famous attractions.

Built in 1992 to celebrate the Olympic Games, it is located just a short distance from the Olympic Stadium at the foot of Montjuïc Hill. The tower is also known as the Torre Telefónica, after its owner, for whom it was built to cover the coverage of the Olympic Games.
The tower is 136 metres high and, according to Calatrava, is intended to resemble a kneeling athlete lifting the torch with the Olympic flame. In addition, it also functions as a sundial, with the top of the antenna casting a shadow on a circular platform with a dial.
How to get there
The tower is located about 300 metres on foot from the Olympic Stadium, which can be reached by the following bus routes:
- Line 150 - the fastest way from the metro to Placa Espanya, the bus continues on to Montjuïc Castle.
- Line 13 - also from the metro to Placa Espanya, but a much longer route
- Line 125 - runs from La Marina
