Guatiza

The cactus garden in the village of Guatiza is another very popular tourist destination in Lanzarote. Home to more than 1,400 species of cacti from all over the world, it was built by the famous Lanzarote architect César Manrique in the early 1990s.

The Jardín de Cactus was built on the site of a former quarry for the extraction of volcanic sands and, exactly according to César Manrique's principles, it was built in the greatest possible harmony with the surrounding nature so as not to interfere significantly with the landscape.

More than 4,500 specimens of cacti of various species, sizes and appearances are on display.

The garden is dominated by a photogenic windmill, from which you can take the best panoramic photos of the whole area.

Admission and opening hours

The price of a ticket to the garden is 8 eur, Children under 12 years of age pay only 4 eur. The ticket includes entry to the volcanic museum. Tickets can be purchased on site and online at the official website.

It is open daily from 10:00-16:30.

How to get there

The Cactus Gardens are located on the northern edge of Guatiza near the road and are easily accessible by car, with free parking at the entrance. The village of Guatiza is 17 km from the main town of Arrecife.

Just outside the gardens you can use the bus stop of line 9, which passes through 5 times a day from Arrecife, Teguise and Orzola.
