Australia fills one continent and has no land border with any country.

The country can only be reached by plane. There are no regular international ferries to Australia.

By air to Australia

There are direct flights to Australia from every continent. Even from Europe you can get to Australia non-stop, although currently only to Australia's westernmost city, Perth.

There are four major international airports in Australia with many long-haul routes and several other regionally important airports with international routes mainly to South East Asia and New Zealand.

When are the lowest fares?

Generally, you have the best chance of getting bargains at the turn of the peak season.

Usually the highest fares are during Australia's peak season (November to March), but also during the Northern Hemisphere's peak season (July and August).

Most promotional offers occur in May, June, September or October.

What airlines fly to Australia?

International flights to Australia are operated by airlines from all over the world.

Local airlines Qantas and Jetstar have the largest share of international flights.

The largest number of airlines fly to Australia from Asian countries, including popular low-cost airlines such as AirAsia, Scoot, VietJetAir and Cebu Pacific.

Towards Europe, British Airways and Turkish Airlines fly direct to Australian airports with stopovers in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways offer the most frequent connections between Australia and Europe, with connections in the Middle East.

Direct flights to North America are operated by Delta, American Airlines, United and Air Canada, and LATAM operates a route to Chile.

Ferries and passenger ships

There are currently no scheduled passenger ferries to Australia.
