Qantas is the third oldest airline in the world (founded in 1922) and is Australia's flag carrier. The name Qantas is an acronym of the words Queenslandand Norhtern Territory Aerial Services“.

The company has its main base at Sydney Airport, with other major hubs in all major Australian cities.

The typical Qantas aircraft identification is a kangaroo in a red field on the indicator, hence the airline's informal nickname is „The Flying Kangaroo“.

The airline operates over 150 aircraft of the Boeing 737-800, Airbus A321XLR, Airbus A220, Airbus A330, Boeing 787, Airbus A380 and Airbus A350 types.

Qantas operates a QantasLink subsidiary for regional flights, flying Embraer 190s. However, this airline has the same travel conditions and website as the parent Qantas.

In addition, Qantas also includes the low-cost airline Jetstar.
