The River Wear forms a peninsula from the historic centre of Durham, atop which the local castle and cathedral stand majestically.
A beautiful pedestrian promenade runs the length of the river, offering views of the city centre, historic bridges and the dense greenery along the water.
In the central part, the promenade is surrounded by a large number of restaurants and cafés.
At the northern end of the pedestrian promenade opposite the university, stay at the hotel Radisson Blu Durham **** overlooking the river.
