Mountjoy
Mountjoy Park can be found on the eastern edge of Durham and is a popular place for walks and, most importantly, for the best views of Durham Cathedral.
Mountjoy is a hill surrounded by a grassy landscaped meadow with no paths or benches.
The views of Durham city centre, and the countryside beyond, are at their best from Mountjoy and are unobstructed.
Mountjoy Hill can be reached on foot from the Cathedral in about 20-25 minutes. We recommend choosing this route, which is off the main streets.
