The main pedestrianised area in Birmingham city centre is called New Street, connecting Victoria Square and the Bullring shopping district.

The street is roughly half a mile long and is almost entirely pedestrianised. Along New Street you'll find plenty of cheap and expensive shops, cafes and restaurants.

Even though the street has no direct connection to Birmingham New Street mainline station, it has given it its name.

New Street may not be Birmingham's main attraction, but its location right in the centre makes it a natural walking route for most tourists moving around the city on foot.
