Where to stay in Birmingham

Birmingham

Birmingham city centre is relatively small and very compact.

We recommend choosing accommodation close to the centre, as commuting from the outskirts of the city can be a bit confusing and lengthy due to the lack of bus information.

There are no dangerous or poor places to avoid in Birmingham.

Tips for hotels and locations

The best location is the wide area around Birmingham New Street station. This is because all attractions can be reached within 20 minutes on foot from here.

Cheapest hotels

The lowest prices for 1 night in a double room in budget hotels are around 70 eur 92 eur .

However, read the reviews well, because cheap hotels are often located in very old buildings, and the room facilities are very good.

Among the cheapest hotels we would choose for example the following well rated ones:

  • easyHotel Birmingham - Best choice if you are looking for a good clean hotel right in the centre. EasyHotel is just a 1-minute walk from New Street Station
  • Campanile Hotel Birmingham *** - cheap international chain with modern hotels located on the northern edge of the centre (about 2.5 km from New Street)
    • Public transport - buses 65, 66, 67 (Dartmouth Circus stop)
  • Ibis budget Birmingham Centre ** - the cheapest product line of the Ibis chain with very basic facilities, the hotel is about 10 minutes walk from New Street station

Quality hotels

If you are looking for the reassurance of good accommodation at affordable prices in great hotels, be prepared for prices between 128 eur and 165 eur per night.

Luxury hotels

There's only one classic 5-star hotel in Birmingham.

Prices and when to book

Although Birmingham is not a very touristy city, prices are quite high and are normally around 120 gbp in standard hotels.

Prices are similar across the year, but tend to be significantly higher at weekends when many people head to B'ham for shopping.

We recommend booking your hotel about 2-3 months before your trip.
