Ermita de Guará

Ermita Gerian

The small chapel of Guará, also called Ermita de Gerián after the village where it is located, is dedicated to the patron saint of the island - Virgen de Guadelupe.

The church was built in the 1960s and stands on a high cliff surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the orphaned part of La Gomera.

Ethereal views

The terrace surrounding the chapel offers wide views of the surrounding area. Deep below the Ermita de Guará, the stretching valley of the Barranco de Argaga winds its way.

From here you can also see the outline of the famous Valle Gran Rey and, in good weather, the island of El Hierro is also clearly visible.

How to get there

The chapel is easily reached by car on a narrow but well-maintained tarmac road from the village of Chipude. Follow the signs "Gerián" and "Guará".

If you have more time, we definitely recommend walking here along the marked trails that wind their way up and down through the Barranco de Argaga valley, offering breathtaking views.
