One of the most famous city streets in the world, La Rambla is the lively artery of central Barcelona. It connects the grand Plaça de Catalunya to the harbour, where it is topped by the massive Christopher Columbus monument.
La Rambla is a paradise for lovers of bustling life, shopping in small shops of all kinds from luxury clothing to cheap souvenirs.

At night, La Rambla is transformed into a lively, illuminated thoroughfare, with a plethora of street performers, food and drink stalls and souvenir shops.

The street is lined with lots of interesting sights or famous places, just like its immediate surroundings. The following should definitely not miss your attention:
- The Mercat de la Boqueria - the largest and oldest market in Barcelona with a magnificent steel structure
- Café de l'Opera - one of Barcelona's most famous bars with a history dating back to the 19th century
- Hotel Oriente - a famous hotel building dating back to the 17th century when it served as a Franciscan monastery
- Placa Reial - a tucked away beautiful square with arcades all around its perimeter, located just a few metres from La Rambla
- Gran Teatre del Liceu - a beautiful opera house, the most famous in Barcelona, which has been operating since 1847
