The island of Corvo is connected to the outside world exclusively by air. Regular passenger ferries run only to the neighbouring island of Flores.
By air
Small airport Corvo CVU is located right in the centre of Vila do Corvo, the only village on the island.
The terminal lies on the south side of the runway away from the town centre. However, you can still walk to the centre of Vila do Corvo from the airport in 5 minutes.
Corvo has direct connections to only a few Azores islands and all scheduled flights are operated by a local airline SATA Air Acores. The following airports are served from Corvo:
- Ponta Delgada PDL - 5 times a week on average, usually with a stopover on Faial
- Horta HOR - 1 to 2 times a day
- Flores FLW - 3 times a week
A return ticket from Ponta Delgada or Horta, for example, costs on average 80 eur to 100 eur.
You will always fly to Europe or America via Ponta Delgada or Horta airport. In the direction of Europe, it's usually worth buying tickets on sale to Ponta Delgada or Terceira, which often have fares around 250 eur on those airlines:
And from mainland Portugal also via Ryanair.
Then buy a separate ticket with SATA Air Acores to the island of Corvo. Flights from Europe to Corvo bought as one booking tend to be more expensive.

By ferry
Corvo is only connected by regular boat service to the small neighbouring island of Flores, which is served by a small 16-passenger Atlanticoline boat.
The boat has 12 seats covered under the roof and 4 seats are on the outside deck.
The journey time to Flores is 40 minutes and a one-way ticket costs 10 eur. Especially in high season, we recommend booking your ticket at least 14 days in advance on the official website atlanticoline.pt.
The ferry Corvo - Flores does not run every day.
- Winter - Tuesdays and Saturdays only, always 2 return sailings on a given day (morning and afternoon)
- Spring and autumn - only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, always 2 return sailings on a given day (morning and afternoon)
- Summer - Daily except Wednesday, always 2 return sailings on a given day (morning and afternoon)
Organized trips from Flores
The most common form of transport to Corvo is from the neighbouring island of Flores via various tourist agencies.
These tours usually include a return cruise from Flores to Corvo, often also a van ride to Caldeirão or a stop at the caves on the coast of Corvo.
Tours are offered, for example, by the following agencies:
In total, the trip takes around 6 hours.
Prices vary between 40 eur and 55 eur depending on whether or not the van ride from the port of Corvo to the caldera (7 km one way with an elevation gain of over 500 meters) is included.
Flight and cruise cancellations due to weather
Corvo has only a small airport with a short runway and a harbor where only small boats can dock.
Combined with frequent windy weather or large waves, you must therefore expect the risk of flight cancellations, regular ferry sailings or organised tours at any time of the year.
Longer periods when you cannot reach the island by plane or boat for several days at a time are no exception, especially in autumn, winter and spring.
Therefore, when planning a trip to Corvo on your own, always allow for this possibility and have an alternative plan in place.
It is advisable not to plan your trip to Corvo just before you leave home from the Azores. Allow a few days between your stay on Corvo and your flight home to visit another island where flight cancellations are not so frequent (for example, Faial - Horta airport).
