Ragunan Zoo is located in Jakarta's largest park quite far from the city centre (about 16 km south), but if you have time in Jakarta and have seen all the sights, it is definitely worth the trip.
The entire complex covers 140 hectares and is one of the largest zoological parks in Asia.
What will you see at the zoo?
Ragunan Zoo houses more than 330 animal species and over 2,300 individuals.
Some of the biggest attractions include the Komodo varanus pavilion, the extensive monkey and primate pavilion, and an aviary with hundreds of birds.
The zoo focuses on breeding endangered animals from Indonesia, but you'll also find animals from Australia and other parts of the world.
Entrance fees and opening hours
The zoo is open every day from 7am-4pm except Mondays, when it remains closed.
Tickets are 4 000 idr and an additional 6 000 idr for admission to the Schmutzer Primate Center.

How to get there
To get to the zoo, take the Corridor 6 express buses.
- Direction Monas (Merdeka) - lines 6A, 6B (about every 5-10 minutes)
- Direction Thamrin (Sudirman) - lines 6, 6B
- Senyan direction - line 6V
For Grab or Gojek from downtown you will pay around 60 000 idr.
