Tirana Castle

The remains of the old Justinian's fortress in the form of fortification walls and several archaeological remains of towers can be found on the southern edge of Skanderbeg Square.
The fortress dates back to before 1300, when Albania was ruled by the Byzantine Empire and the city of the time was built around this fortress. A roughly 150-metre stretch of the wall has survived to the present day.
In 2018, the Tiran Castle, called Kalaja e Tiranës in Albanian, was rebuilt into a small district of one street that resembles an old Turkish bazaar.
Here you can sit in modern but traditional-looking restaurants or cafes and buy souvenirs in the many shops.
Entrance is free and 24 hours a day.
