Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ

The main Orthodox cathedral in Albania stands in Skanderbeg Square in the middle of Tirana and is the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans and the 3rd largest in Europe.
Apart from its size, the church impresses with its modern but very tasteful appearance. The cathedral was opened in 2012 on the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Albanian Orthodox Church.
Architecture and dimensions
The cathedral was designed by American architect Steven P. Papadatos to accommodate at least 1,000 worshippers. The circular structure with a dome exceeding 32 metres in height is complemented by a bell tower over 50 metres high, which forms one of the landmarks of Skanderbeg Square.
Inside, the large modern fresco of Christ covering the entire dome is particularly striking.
Admission and opening hours
The church is open daily from 10:00-21:30 and is open to everyone free of charge.
