Where to stay in Tirana

Find out where are the best locations for accommodation in Tirana and tips on specific cheap or quality hotels.
Where to stay in Tirana
Tirana may look like a sprawling city at first glance, but in reality all the attractions and most of the hotels are concentrated in a fairly tight circle around the central Skanderbeg Square.
Look for accommodation within about 2km of this square and you won't go wrong. Even walking around Tirana is pleasant, as all the main streets are densely planted with trees that provide pleasant shade.

Tips for the best hotels in Tirana
To help you find your way around, we've selected the best hotels in several categories.
Cheapest hotels
Tirana may be a cheap city in Europe, but it's one of the most expensive in the Balkans.
On the other hand, most hotels are very well rated, even in the lowest price categories, which start at around 33 eur per night in a double room.
- Prime Hotel *** - The hotel with the best value for money in Tirana is right on Skanderbeg Square and should be the first choice for those who want to stay in the centre and not spend more than a grand a night.
- Hotel Relax City Center *** - A basic but clean hotel with all amenities just 3 minutes walk from the centre and right next to the biggest department store in Tirana. It is one of the consistently cheapest classic hotels in Tirana.
- Centrum Hotel ** - A smaller hotel with clean rooms 2 minutes from Skanderbeg Square is ideal for thrifty travellers who also don't want to compromise too much on modern accommodation standards
The golden mean
If you're the kind of traveller who doesn't care so much about price, but likes to stay in larger hotels or choose well-known brands from multinational chains for your accommodation, be prepared for pretty fair prices in Tirana between 55 eur and 73 eur per night for 2.
- MonarC Hotel **** - A modern quality hotel in a quieter part of Skanderbeg Square with a great rated breakfast.
- Brilant Antik Hotel **** - Stylish hotel with modern facilities and a great location near the central square, it is also one of the cheapest 4* hotels in the centre.
- Hilton Garden Inn **** - If you want to stay in the proven quality of international chain hotels, you'll need to head to the outskirts of Tirana, but the hotel is ideal for travellers heading into town by car, for example.
Luxury hotels
Are you after quality hotels without compromise? There's a five-star hotel for you in Tirana too, although the choice is not as wide as in other capitals. However, 5* prices are reasonable and usually start from 147 eur per night.
The best hotels include Maritim Hotel Plaza in one of Tirana's newest skyscrapers right in the centre.
Hotels near bus stations
Many travellers look for accommodation as close as possible to the major bus stations, as they often have to take the earliest connections to smaller mountain towns. These usually leave between 5am and 6am.
- TEG main station (Terminali Lindor)
- Metro Hotel Terminal **** - this highly rated hotel is directly adjacent to the TEG shopping centre and bus station.
- Jug-Veri National Station
- Doanesia Hotel & SPA **** - directly across the street from the station, rates from 44 eur per night for 2
- Hotel Kaloshi **** - 250 meters from the station, prices from 26 eur per night for 2

Hotel prices in Tirana
As outlined above, Tirana is one of the cheaper destinations in Europe, with standard 3* hotels from 31 eur per night for a 2 bed room, and better quality 4* hotels between 55 eur and 73 eur.
As Tirana itself is not a typical tourist destination with clearly defined seasons, accommodation prices are similar across the year. There is no need to worry about booking a hotel at the last minute either, capacity usually exceeds demand by quite a bit.
