The Bridge of Tentacles

The Bridge of Tentacles

What you would miss in other cities is one of the main sights in Tirana, a city poor in preserved monuments. We are talking about the small bridge of tanners (Ura e Tabakëve) over the Lana river, which no longer flows under the bridge, but is tamed by an artificial channel a few metres away.

The bridge was built during the 18th century during the Byzantine Empire and got its name from the leatherworkers' quarter in which it was located.

Stop by the bridge for a few minutes while wandering around the centre of Tirana, it can be seen from the main street nearby and there is no entrance fee.
