Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

The Centre for Modern Art is one of the most visited cultural institutions in the city.
It is not only the exhibitions and various events held inside that are interesting, but also the building in which the art centre is located.
Historic flour mill
The Modern Art Center is housed in a historic flour silo building that served its purpose from the 1930s until 1984.
The building stands right on the banks of the River Tyne in the borough of Gateshead just beside the famous Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
The current gallery has taken the name of Baltic Flour Mills and is known as 'Baltic' for short.
Exhibitions and other events
There are no permanent exhibitions at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, but temporary events, exhibitions, events and educational programmes take place here every day of the year.
A list of current events can be found on the official website baltic.art.
Admission and opening hours
The Baltic Centre is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00-18:00.
