Tickets for performances

The theatre is one of the most important cultural institutions in the whole of the North of England. Almost all of the performances that take place here are part of the British National Tour, when various theatre companies from different cities tour across the UK.

On average, there are 30-35 different performances a year of classical theatre, modern works, ballet and opera. However, most of the plays have several repeats, so outside of the summer holidays there is a performance almost every day.

Ideally book tickets online at the official website theatreroyal.co.uk. Prices range between 15 gbp and 45 gbp.

How to get there

The theatre does not currently offer tours of its premises outside of performances.

The building is located on Grey Street, one of the main pedestrianised areas of the historic centre near Grey's Monument and Grainger Market.

Both the Green and Yellow Line "Monument" subway stations are located approximately 100 meters from the theatre.
