The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham is one of the largest aquariums in England and will capture the attention of children and adults alike.

There are more than 60 tanks of varying sizes with marine and freshwater fish. The aquarium is also located right in the city centre in Brindleyplace, so you don't have to make complicated transport plans when visiting.

What will you see at the aquarium?

The aquarium has over 2,000 different animals from around the world in its collection and is divided into several sections, the most popular of which are:

  • Ocean Tunnel - Discover the ocean floor and walk through a glass tunnel through the inside of the largest tank with a capacity of over 1 million litres. You will see sharks, turtles and hundreds of colourful fish.
  • Penguine Ice Adventure - Watch playful penguins and visit the Arctic.
  • Reef Edge - An artificial coral reef where you'll see all the colours of the world!
  • Jelly Invaders - an aquarium full of wondrous jellyfish.
  • Clownfish Kingdom - a very popular tank with beautiful clownfish. It's Nemo, after all!
  • Bay of Rays - a tank with majestic stingrays.
  • Kingdom of the Seahorses - In this aquarium you'll see hundreds of tiny, bizarre seahorses.

Admission and opening hours

Open every day, however opening hours vary according to the season and specific days of the week.

Ticket prices are the same for children and adults. Only young children under 2 years old are not admitted.

The cheapest ticket is the one purchased online for the exact time, the most expensive is the ticket purchased at the venue.

  • 18 gbp - Online for the specified time at least 3 days in advance (this option is not available on weekends, holidays and some holidays)
  • 25 gbp - 27 gbp - online at a fixed time at the last minute (1-3 days before the visit)
  • 30 gbp - entry at any time and price of all tickets (including online purchase) on weekends and some holidays

You can also take advantage of discounted combined admission with, for example, the neighbouring Legoland Discovery Centre.
