One of Mallorca's most popular resorts is located in the south-west of the island. Santa Ponsa, also known as Santa Ponça in Catalan, is set in a beautifully undulating landscape and nestled in a quiet bay surrounded by a very rugged and photogenic coastline.

Santa Ponsa lies a little away from the busy resorts of Magaluf and Palmanova and is suitable for a quiet holiday spiced up with sporting activities or golf, which is extremely popular in this area.
Beaches and swimming
The main Playa de Santa Ponça lies right in the centre of the resort on a 400-metre stretch of fine white sand, shaded by a fairly large grove of pine trees. The beach is easily accessible on foot from all over Santa Ponça. In close proximity, you can dine at many restaurants including fast food joints such as McDonald's, shop at dozens of stores and take advantage of the many water activities on offer.
Of course, the beach itself has several beach chairs and umbrella rentals, and there are public restrooms and freshwater showers.
Although Santa Ponsa is one of the smaller beaches, it is not as crowded as other resorts in the area, making it ideal for a quiet holiday. The entrance to the water is very gradual and free of rocks and the sea is beautifully calm.
Accommodation
Santa Ponsa is one of the more moderately priced resorts and you'll find plenty of mostly very well rated apartment blocks and smaller hotel resorts. Typical prices in summer are around 110 eur per night, but even less in apartments.
Among the best and well-known hotels in Santa Ponsa are this selection:
- Playas del Rey *** - A nice hotel in the best location in town overlooking the bay and only about 100 meters from the beach, prices from 84 eur per night
- Sun Beach *** - aparthotel with fully equipped studios right in the centre of town and 150 metres from the beach, prices from 73 eur per night
- H10 Casa del Mar **** - one of the largest resorts in Santa Ponsa right on the beach and just a few metres from the centre, prices from 110 eur per night
How to get there?
The resort is very easy to reach by car on the Ma-1 motorway, from Mallorca airport you can get here in about 30 minutes after covering 30 km. Free parking is available, for example in this car park about 70 metres from the main beach.
