With over 2 km, Misericordia Beach is the longest beach in Málaga. Unlike the popular tourist Malagueta, Misericordia is particularly popular with locals, mainly because it is close to large residential areas and a little further away from the historic centre.

The beach is dominated by an old industrial chimney, which has been left here as a memento of the historic industrial district.
Swimming and beach facilities
The beach is covered with fine, silty sand and the entrance to the water is gradual. It's not as wide as the more famous Playa de la Malagueta, but thanks to its length, there's always plenty of room to spare.
Every few metres you'll come across a beach bistro, bar or restaurant, and of course there are sunbed and umbrella hire shops (around 12 eur per set per day). A long pedestrian promenade lined with palm trees stretches along the entire Misericordia beach and the adjacent smaller beaches.
Beachfront accommodation
There are many private apartments along the entire beach, but only two traditional hotels. Right on the promenade you can stay at the 4* superbly rated Hotel Vincci Málaga, but if you're looking for more budget accommodation, choose Hotel Solymar about 100 metres from the beach and closer to the centre.
How to get there
Playa de la Misericordia may be further away from the historic centre, but it's very easy to get to by public bus. Line 40 runs along the entire length of the beach, stopping at several stations. You can find public transport timetables on the transport company's website.
Lines 7 and 15 run down the street (about 80 metres from the beach).
