Every big city has its main shopping and pedestrian avenue. Málaga is no exception and offers all visitors the beautiful Calle Marqués de Larios, full of shops, upmarket restaurants and bars, as well as great patisseries. C. Marqués de Larios is the most expensive street to live on in Málaga and the 11th most expensive in Spain.
The street, along with the surrounding buildings, began to be built in the late 19th century and was completed in 1880. During the summer season, it's famous for being covered by cloth screens that arch over the street between the houses, providing gentle shade and a much more pleasant environment than if the avenue were exposed to direct sunlight.
Calle Marqués de Larios begins on Alameda Principal near the port and ends at one of Malaga's main squares , Plaza de la Constitución.
The street is named after one of the most important industrialists of the 19th century, Martín Larios, who was given the title of Marqués by Queen Isabella II.
