Playa de la Malagueta

Malagueta

The town's main beach, with its sand and gradual entrance to the sea, will be your most frequent stop on hot days. Malagueta Beach is one of the most famous and beautiful urban beaches in Spain and is definitely not to be missed on your trip to Málaga.

Swimming and beach facilities

Malagueta is covered in finer sand with occasional light grey pebbles and boasts a very gentle entrance to the sea, which is calm for most of the year. Malagueta Beach starts at the main lighthouse of the local harbour and continues for over 2 km along the urban area to the east.

Along its entire length, the beach is lined by a busy street with dozens of restaurants and bars and a wide pedestrian promenade shaded by palm trees. There are also a few small restaurants right on the beach, and of course there are free toilets and showers.

You can also take advantage of the many sun lounger and umbrella hire companies, which offer one set for around 15 eur per day.

Accommodation on the beach

There's nothing better than staying in a hotel with a sea view and great access to the centre, which is a stone's throw from the beach. Of the classic hotels, you'll only find the 3* Soho Boutique Las Vegas with prices around 128 eur per night for 2 and also one of the best hotels in Málaga, the 5* Gran Hotel Miramar, where prices start at 257 eur per night.

However, especially in the harbour area you will come across many private apartments in houses with sea views with varying prices (lowest from about 92 eur per night).

How to get there

The most visited part of the beach by the harbour can be reached from Málaga's historic centre within a 15-minute walk. However, you can of course also use the public transport buses that run along the entire beach and have several stops here. In particular, you can use lines 14 and 40.
