Tune your olfactory cells at the Mercado Central de Ataranzas, a large market that opens its doors to hundreds of traders and stallholders every day except Sunday. Wander the aisles of fresh meat, fish and fruit and vegetables from farmers around Málaga and admire the interesting architecture of the market.
This was put into use in 1879 when the old shipyards were rebuilt. All that remains is a monumental gateway in the style of Muslim Nasrid architecture dating from the 15th century.
The market is open daily from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, remaining closed on Sundays.
