One of Gaudí's most famous works and one of the must-see attractions when visiting Barcelona is Park Güell, a large park with rich architectural features that has captivated the likes of painter Salvatore Dali in the past.

This fabulous park is full of interesting colourful sculptures, structures, walls and other elements with typically unconventional shapes in the style of Anotnio Gaudí.
Thanks to its location on a steep hillside, it also offers spectacular views of the whole of Barcelona. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Pitoresk park and views
When industrialist Eusebi Güell commissioned Gaudí to design a garden city in the late 19th century, it was envisaged that a small housing estate would be built here. In the end, however, there were not enough buyers for the plots and the project was turned into a park after the city bought it.
Park Güell is full of Gaudí's characteristic elements inspired by nature. Tree-shaped columns cover the promenades, and the undulating shapes of other buildings resemble lava flows. Many elements are decorated with colourful mosaics.
The most famous element in the park is the salamander dragon guarding the main staircase, which, like many other architectural elements in the park, is made of colorful mosaics made of ceramic shards and glass.
From many points in the park you can enjoy amazing views of the whole of Barcelona with the sea in the background. One of the most iconic sights is the central area of the "Gran Placa".
Significantly less crowded with even better views can be enjoyed on the hill "Turó de las Tres Creus" with its stone cairn with 3 crosses.
Entrance fees and opening hours
The Park Güell is divided into two parts, the smaller northern part is free to enter, but you won't find any of Gaudí's features there, just a rest area.
The larger part, called the "Monumental Zone" is only accessible with a ticket.
Tickets can only be purchased online on the official website, tickets are not available on site. Due to the regulation of the huge number of tourists, tickets must be bought for the exact day and time.
During the winter, tickets are available as little as 10 minutes before the selected date, but in high season and on weekends, we recommend booking a ticket several days in advance. The number of visitors is limited.
