The island of Gressholmen is a beautiful place for walking through the forests and along the coast.
Gressholmen is quite a hilly little island, so you can also enjoy nice views of the Oslofjord and the surrounding islands, and if the weather is nice you can see the Holmenkollen ski jump on the horizon.

From the harbour, a beautiful, rugged footpath leads through the forest to a very popular country restaurant.
From here, continue through the forest past the Norwegian Hiking Club hut to the boat dock area, where you'll find old rails that were once used as an airfield for seaplanes and later for small boat factories.
Heggholmen Lighthouse
The hiking trail ends on the west coast of the island. It first takes you to the highest point of Gressholmen, from where you can enjoy beautiful views.
You can continue on to the historic Heggholmen Lighthouse from 1827, which at first glance looks more like a church or chapel.
