The Fram Museum is the most visited museum on the Bygdøy peninsula and will delight boat and history lovers.
The museum tells the story of Norwegian polar expeditions and the discovery of the North and South Poles. In particular, it focuses on the lives of three famous polar explorers, Roald Amundsen, Fridtjof Nansen and Otto Svedrup.

Expedition ships Fram and Gjøa
The museum's unmistakable landmark, which has also been adapted to the architectural design of the building and the name of the museum, is the original expedition ship Fram.
This vessel was used by Norwegian polar explorers, especially during the conquest of the North Pole between 1893 and 1912.
Unlike, for example, the Vasa in Stockholm's Vasa Museum, the complete interior of the ship is open to all visitors.
The Fram is preserved in its original form.
The smaller building next door is dedicated to the small expedition ship Gjøa, which sailed around the entire northern coast of Canada between 1903 and 1906.
