Kofuku-ji Temple is a very popular place for its central location between the train stations and Nara Park, as well as its beautifully preserved buildings.

The landmark is the 50-metre-high five-storey pagoda, which is the second tallest in Japan after the pagoda of Toji Temple in Kyoto.

The shape of the main hall is reminiscent of the gates and palaces of the Heijo complex.
