Nara in a nutshell

Nara

Nara is a popular small town where the tranquillity emanating from the ubiquitous free-roaming sika deer contrasts sharply with the nearby big cities of Osaka and Kyoto.

Visit the popular Nara Park with its hundreds of Japanese deer, which are considered messengers of the gods, and discover several UNESCO-listed temples and palaces.

Nara boasts a rich history. It was even Japan's capital from 710 to 794 before the seat of the emperors moved to Kyoto, 45 km away.

Book a hotel for 1 night

Thanks to good rail connections, you can easily make a 1-day trip to Nara, but you're sure to have fun here for two full days, for example during the transfer from Kyoto to Osaka.
