Going on holiday to Pisa? See which locations and cities are the best, cheapest and most practical for accommodation in Pisa.
Where to stay in Pisa
Pisa is a small and compact city, so if you stay within the wider centre, you'll never go wrong and can walk anywhere within 25 minutes. However, we can still divide Pisa into 3 areas suitable for accommodation to maximise convenience.

By the Station
If Pisa is going to be your main base for sightseeing, then a hotel by the station is almost invaluable.
Within a 5-minute walk of the main station building, you'll find several hotels that are perfect for morning departures and evening returns. The area around the station may not be the prettiest, but it's certainly not dangerous and the great location makes up for it. At the station you can choose accommodation in all price categories.
- Miranda Pisa - small family-run guesthouse 70 metres from the station with simple but clean rooms
- Hotel La Pace - standard 3* hotel with older facilities but clean and spacious, located about 100 metres from the station
- NH Pisa - the quality of a multinational chain without compromise, the hotel is also directly opposite the station, the downside is the higher price (from 120 eur per night upwards)
At the Leaning Tower
If your main destination in Pisa is the iconic Leaning Tower, then choose from several hotels near Piazza del Duomo, where this monument stands. Hotel prices here are higher than near the station, but the differences aren't so staggering and you can stay for under 80 eur per night in a 2-bed room. We would choose these accommodations:
- Hotel Pisa Tower - 3* hotel at the western edge of the square with a very good rating
- Helvetia Pisa Tower - a small 3* pleasant hotel with new and clean facilities between the Leaning Tower and the centre
- La Torre Garbata - a small fully equipped guesthouse with a terrace right at the entrance to Piazza dei Miracoli
In the centre
Do you enjoy the lively atmosphere of city centres? Then Pisan's centre will not disappoint you with its pedestrianised areas and dark corners free of tourists. What's more, from the centre you can walk to both the Leaning Tower and the railway station in 15 minutes. Some of the best hotels in the centre include:
- Royal Victoria Hotel - a stylish 3-star hotel right on the banks of the Arno River
- Casa Raffaella - a private apartment right on the main pedestrian area of Corso Italia ideal for larger groups (at least 4), where budgeting will get you good prices below 45 eur per person
Luxury hotels
If you don't care so much about location but are always looking for the best quality hotels, there's something for you in Pisa too. Prices for really well rated 4* hotels are in the range between 100 eur and 160 eur per night in a 2 bed room.
The best are definitely the modern Hotel Repubblica Marinara located in the east of the city, but right by the LAM Rossa bus stop, which takes you to the station and the Leaning Tower.
The 4* is in a great location right in the centre. Hotel Bologna one of the best in the city for value for money and location.
Hotel prices in Pisa
Accommodation in Pisa is relatively inexpensive for a similarly sized and much-visited Italian city. A night in a 2-bed room in a standard 3* hotel will set you back between 55 eur and 120 eur depending on the season.
You can always find the cheapest accommodation in Pisa in the winter and autumn from around November to March, when prices are usually below 55 eur. On the other hand, expect the highest prices during the summer holidays, but even then you can find a night in private apartments under 90 eur, and in classic hotels around 120 eur.
