Getting around Esztergom

Clipping

Ezstergom is a small district town and you can usually get by on foot. The longest potential stretch runs from the basilica to the station and is almost 3 km long.

However, there are also public buses in town, so if you don't feel like walking from the station, you can use this method.

Public bus

Local transport is operated by Volánbusz on 4 lines. All of them run from the train and bus station in the southern part of the town and all of them will take you to the Basilica or the Water Town or the water park in about the same time, albeit by a slightly different route.

Lines A, B, C, D, E, G, H, N, P, T, V operate here as public transport. They all go to the train station (Vasútállomás) and all have an interval of 1 hour. This means that you can get from the station to the centre 3-4 times an hour.

Timetables can be found on the official website: volanbusz.hu/esztergom.

Tickets can be bought in cash from the driver and cost 500 huf for a given calendar day. You can use one ticket for unlimited travel on all public transport lines. There are no single tickets in Esztergom as of 2024.
