Royal Botanic Gardens

Covering over 38 hectares, the Royal Botanic Gardens is Melbourne's largest park and a beautiful oasis of peace and tranquillity in the heart of a metropolis of 5 million people.

The 10 best hotels in Melbourne

The Botanic Gardens holds more than 2 million specimens of trees, flowers or rare herbs. There are other parks directly adjacent to the Botanic Gardens, creating a single huge green space.

The area of the garden is divided into many different thematic areas, which are not marked on the ground. We therefore recommend that you scan or pick up a paper map from the Information Centre or check the official website: rbg.vic.gov.au.

The most popular part of the Botanic Gardens are the beautifully trimmed lawns with many beds around the artificial ponds.

You are free to enter the lawn or picnic here.

Free toilets are available in many areas of the Botanic Gardens.
