Transportation from Yogyakarta Airport

Addisutjipto - Terminal

The airport is easily accessible by public transport to the centre of Yogyakarta and the nearby Prambanan Temple. Modern city buses and trains are available.

Public transport

Many taxi drivers will approach you at the arrivals hall exit, but if you really want to save money, head for the underpass on the left.

The underpass will take you under the railway line to the large bus station "Adisutjipto" and the railway station "Maguwo".

TransJogja bus

Buses are the cheapest form of transport to/from the airport.

The journey to the city centre (to the station area and Malioboro main street) takes 30-40 minutes depending on traffic jams.

Fares

You always pay for one ride.

  • Fares paid by electronic cards - 2 700 idr
    • for line 1A the fare is 3 600 idr
  • Fares paid in cash - 3 600 idr
    • cash is not available for line 1A

Fares can be paid with TransJogja e-cards (purchased at the station ticket office) and E-Money Mandiri, Multi Trip Card (purchased at railway stations), BNI Tapscash, Brizzi and BCA Flazz.

Electronic cards are convenient if you travel a lot or go to other cities. In fact, these cards can be used on public transport virtually all over Indonesia.

Detailed information about recharging or the cost of the cards is described in the Yogyakarta guide.

You can also pay via the LinkAja and Gopay mobile apps, but these are only available to Indonesian users.

Suburban train

Maguwo train station is located next to the bus station.

Suburban trains on the Y line stop here, connecting downtown Yogyakarta with Surakarta (Solo Balapan, Palur).

You can buy a ticket in the form of an electronic "Multi Trip Card" at the ticket machine (only card payments are accepted). KMT card costs 55 000 idr, but 10 000 idr of this amount is already a credit that you can pay for the ticket.

If you arrive in Yogyakarta with another electronic card purchased in Jakarta for example (E-money Mandiri, BNI Tapcash, Brizzi and others), you don't need to buy the Multi Trip Card in the machine and can simply pay the fare with these cards.

The fare from Maguwo station to all other stations (Yogyakarta, Solo, Palur and others) is uniform and costs 8 000 idr.

The train runs 12 times a day and takes 13 minutes to reach the centre of Yogyakarta.

The exact timetable can be found in a pdf file along with a map of all train and bus routes in Yogyakarta at this address: dishub.jogjaprov.go.id.

Grab / Gojek

The most convenient way to get directly to the hotel is via the mobile taxi apps Grab or Gojek.

The location of these cars is at the exit of the underpass near the train and bus station, not directly in front of the terminal where only regular taxis wait.

The price is calculated according to the current demand and to the city centre expect about 60 000 idr.

Regular taxis

The first taxi counters are already in the baggage claim room, other taxi drivers will be waiting for you in the public area of the arrivals hall.

Regular taxis in Yogyakarta have to run according to the meter and prices are slightly higher than the Grab and Gojek mobile apps.

Expect amounts around 80 000 idr.
