The largest airport in Taiwan is located in Taoyuan, about 42 kilometres from the capital city of Taipei. It is ranked in the top 40 of the world's busiest airports and serves as the main base for Eva Air and China Airlines.
Unlike the regional and domestic Songshan TSA Airport, which is close to downtown Taipei, Taoyuan primarily serves long-haul and international traffic.
Due to the good connection to long-distance transport, the official name of the airport is directly named after the whole island "Taiwan" and not just the capital "Taipei".
However, flight search engines and airline websites know the airport as "Taipei".
