Despite being one of the busiest airports in the world, the two terminals are relatively small and very efficiently laid out.
The check-in buildings of the two terminals are about 400 metres apart and transfer between the terminals is possible by free transit bus or automated train.

The individual terminals are divided according to the airlines that check in at them.

Immigration Control
Upon arrival from an international destination, you will go through passport control at both terminals. Queues usually reach 20 to 60 minutes.
You will also go through passport control before departure, but the queues are usually much shorter, at most 10 minutes.
Transfer between flights
Transfers between terminals are common even on a connecting flight on the same airline, and you can make the short journey using the automated Skytrain, which runs through the transit zone.
There is therefore no need to go through passport control or to collect and re-check luggage.
However, you always go through a special security checkpoint for transfer passengers only. The queues are usually very short and usually take no more than 10 minutes.
You do not go through passport control when transferring if you also have a boarding pass for the connecting flight and your luggage is checked through to your final destination.
Detailed information about transferring at Taoyuan Airport can be found on the airport's website: taoyuan-airport.com/transfer.
Skytrain
The automated Skytrain runs inside the terminal on both sides of the building.
The North Skytrain connects departure gates A (Terminal 1) and D (Terminal 2) and runs through the transit area only.
The South Skytrain connects departure gates B (Terminal 1) and C (Terminal 2) and operates in both the transit and public areas.
- Frequency - 2 to 6 minutes (5:00-0:00)
- Travel time - 2 minutes
- Between 0:00 and 5:00 a.m., the Skytrain operates on demand. Press the button at the station and the train will arrive within 3 minutes.
Even with very short transfers and delays (within minutes, not hours) it is customary that the connecting flight is waiting for passengers, everything is well organized.
Connection times
We give average realistic transfer times between planes. However, it is always the case that any transfer time that is guaranteed by the airline can be managed.
- Within one terminal - 25 to 30 minutes
- Terminal 1 <-> Terminal 2 - 40 to 60 minutes
Transfer between terminals via the public section
You can also move between terminals via the public section.
- Skytrain (South Line) - free, runs 24/7, frequency 2-6 minutes, journey time 3 minutes
- Shuttle bus - free, runs 0:00-5:00 only, frequency 20-30 minutes, journey time 10 minutes
