One of Jakarta's two international airports, it is located 16 km southeast of the city centre. It is named after Halim Perdanakusuma, a deputy air marshal and famous Indonesian aviator who served between 1940 and 1947.
To distinguish it from the much larger airport Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta CGK the name "Halim" is often used for this airport, which is also found on some departure boards of other airports.
Currently, only domestic flights operate from Halim Airport, mainly to destinations mainly on the islands of Java, Bali, Sumatra and Borneo.
Only Citilink and Batik Air currently fly to Halim Airport. A small airline, Susi Air, also operates several flights a week from here.
Halim Airport also functions as a military and government airport.
