Indonesian airline Lion Air is the number one airline in the country in terms of number of aircraft and passengers carried.
It is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and, along with the national airline Garuda or the large private company Batik Air, one of the Indonesian airlines that can be described as a standard Western airline that complies with all safety regulations.
The airline's development is indeed impressive. Established only in 2000, it currently has over 100 aircraft in its fleet and about 230 more on order.
Lion Air has Boeing 737 MAX, Boeing 737-800/900 and Airbus A330-300/900 aircraft in its fleet.
Lion Air is mainly encountered on domestic routes within Indonesia or Thailand, where the local branch of Thai Lion Air operates.
Flights to small Indonesian airports are operated by the wholly owned subsidiary Wings Air.
