You can visit the Cham Islands as part of a day trip from Hoi An or Da Nang, but there are also several accommodation options on the islands that allow for a longer stay.

Snorkelling and beautiful beaches

The Cham Archipelago consists of the main island, which also has two small towns and all accommodation, and eight smaller surrounding islands. If you are in Vietnam and want to discover a tropical paradise with clear waters and sandy beaches, the Cham Islands are a good choice.

It's worth pointing out, however, that both the beaches and the snorkelling simply don't compare to those on islands elsewhere in the region - such as Thailand, Malaysia or the Philippines.

As the Cham Islands are part of a UNESCO Biosphere Nature Reserve, you have to pay to enter the islands. At present, a ticket to the islands costs 70 000 vnd, the ecological fee is20 000 vnd.

There are several ways to get to the Cham Islands from Hoi An.

If you're heading to the Cham Archipelago as part of a day trip, you'll save the most time by taking an organised tour. But of course, such a trip is a bit more expensive and also takes away from your flexibility.

Book an organised trip to the Cham Islands

You can book a trip with many vendors in Hoi An. The normal price for a day trip from Hoi An is around 500 000 vnd.

By boat

There are two types of boats you can use to travel to the Cham Islands:

  • public ferry - departs from Cua Dai pier at 8:00 am, returns at 11:20 am, journey time: 1 h 30 min, price: 350 000 vnd return.
  • speedboat - departs from Cua Dai pier 8:30/13:30, returns at 7:00/13:00, travel time: 20 min, price: 200 000 vnd
